Fairbanks North Star Borough Announces Receipt of Certificate of Achievement
for Excellence in Financial Reporting Award
November 23, 2021 (Fairbanks, AK) – Borough Mayor Bryce Ward proudly announces that the Financial Services Division recently received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
The GFOA awarded this Certificate of Excellence to FNSB for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2020. An impartial panel has judged the information to meet the program's high standards, including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
The FNSB Financial Services Division has received this award for 27 consecutive years and 33 years in total.
